Re-imagined Design from Fabric Scraps
“This is my favourite part of the whole process because you get to use every last little bit... and that stitching and stitching to get everything in place in quite therapeutic.” - Maria
Source materials for the shirt
You can use old garments or cut-offs from previous projects
TIP Get creative with your material choices! Watch Maria’s video on natural dying for some great ideas.
Use an old T shirt, cut top off under arms
Including under arm stitching.
Measure out panels and mark up
Lay out fabric, t shirt and fabric panels, and then decide on length of panels. Maria uses approximately 50cm in length.
Once decided, measure out panels and markup. Make sure they meet up to the sleeve edges.
Keep any offcuts for applique.
Sew panels together
