
Diamond Hinged Drumleaf Book

In this workshop you will learn how to create a diamond hinged drumleaf folio book. Starting with a basic folio book which is both useful and simple to create.
Then you have the option to embellish with a diamond hinged drumleaf book. You can use decorative paper like Adele has used, or an alternative block colour, or even dye some plain paper!
The options are endless.
Materials

Paper (any size, Adele has used A1 cartridge paper)

Decorative paper (any size)

Glue stick

Ruler

Paring knife

Snap blade knife

Cutting mat
Method
Diamond hinged drumleaf book
Fold and cut paper
In the video Adele has used 10 folio pages
Glue over hinge
2cm wide
Glue pages together with a line of glue along edge
This part is optional
Cut diamond shape in the decorative paper
The same size as folio - this will be used as the hinge.
Glue diamonds into folio
attach to outside of folio
Repeat!
2 Snake book with matte board or thicker materials
Method
Snake book with
matt board or thicker materials
TIP Use photographs on foamcore or another sort of recycled materials or card for a completely different effect
Cut the matte board and strips
into 5cm strips and squares respectively
Use one square as a template and poke holes in it
Continue to poke holes in remaining squares with the template
Stitch hinge
in a figure 8 stitch - down through hole, up through the gap
Secure hinge with reef knot and sew strips together
Sew sideways hinges and fold up to complete
Your book is ready!
